The Problem With Acne

Commonly referred to as pimples, it is one of the most dreaded skin conditions for teenagers and young adults.

Over 60 million in the U.S and more than half are teenagers who suffer from this ailment.
Acne caused by the effect of hormones on the oil glands of the skin; this can lead to clogged pores, lesions or zits. Areas most affected are usually the face, neck, chest, back and shoulders.

It is not only a problem of adolescence but can linger well into adulthood. In some cases it can be quite disfiguring.

The financial impact of trying to find a cure or remedy can be quite significant when considering prescribed and over the counter solutions.

Acne cases vary from mild to severely disfiguring. It ranges from comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) to nodules and cysts.
Clogged hair follicles sometimes called comedo once opened are blackheads. If it is deep within the skin then it is usually referred to as whiteheads.

Take caution not to squeezed or burst with a sharp object as this can cause a bacterial infection like staphylococci.
Papules are small pink bumps and can be very sensitive to the touch these are a localized reaction to the acne process
Acne pustules are pus-filled lesions may contain a hair and usually leave no scar if it does not progress to a cystic stage.
 

Nodules one of the most resistant/severe forms of acne go deeper into the skin can result in scarring and tissue damage.
Similar to nodules cysts are painful, filled with pus, and are capable of producing scars.
