Bras Causing Rash On The Breast

Bras that don’t fit properly can be a major cause of rash on or underneath the breasts. When breasts are not properly supported and sweating occurs moisture can become trapped causing bacteria.
Bra allergy can be another culprit a prime example of this is in the class action lawsuit against Victoria’s Secret after a customer’s contracted blisters on the breast that became inflamed and itchy after wearing Angels Secret Embrace and Very Sexy Estreme Me Push-Up bras. Further complaints came from other customers who contracted hives, permanent scarring, and welts that felt hot to the touch. It was later found that the bras contained formaldehyde.

Besides the discomfort some women experienced from wearing an under wire bra there may be an allergy to nickel contained in some wired bras. Nickel can even be found in the clasps. If the skin is exposed to the wiring due to worn fabric covering the metal; then bumps, severe itchy rash may develop usually within 12-48 hrs. Symptoms often disappear in 2-4 weeks but can become serious if blisters with draining fluid appear.

There are many causes of Xerosis commonly known as dry skin. Frequent bathing or showering with harsh soaps can dry out the skin. In the most severe cases the skin can crack or peel. Dry skin is more frequent and pronounced in the winter because the skin looses it moisture.
